Will the Federal Reserve’s role change under a Republican Congress? Is more oversight of the Fed on the way? A new article from Heartland Institute Economic Advisor Jim Johnston that appeared in Investor’s Business Daily on January 13 examines some of these questions and tackles the complicated issue of the Fed’s latest initiative, quantitative easing (QE2).
In his article, Johnston tackles many of the shortcomings with the current federal reserve current monetary policies and addresses the problems with QE2 from an economic and historical perspective. Johnston also discusses how the elevation of Texas Congressman Ron Paul to the head of the subcommittee responsible for overseeing the Fed could likely have a strong effect on the Fed’s policies.
Johnston’s article “The Major Political Implications Of QE2,” is available online at: http://www.heartland.org/firepolicy-news.org/article/29148/
