Citizens Florida Prepares for Storm Season

A new video from Florida Capital News Service examines the efforts by Citizens Florida, the state of Florida’s windstorm insurer, to prepare financially for a strong hurricane season by buying reinsurance and issuing new bonds to cover potential claims. Critics of the program argue these efforts are not enough, and that the state still remains critically vulnerable to a large 100 year storm, with taxpayers on the hook for claims Citizens cannot pay.
