FIRE Podcast- David Snyder: Approval of trade deals opens new markets for U.S. insurers

by R.J. Lehmann on October 20, 2011

The White House has announced that President Barack Obama plans to sign recently approved free trade agreements with Panama, Columbia and, most significantly, the Republic of Korea in a Rose Garden signing ceremony on Friday, Oct. 21. After years of delay and debate, all three deals were approved by both houses of Congress in the past two weeks.

In this week’s edition of the FIRE Podcast, R.J. Lehmann, deputy director of The Heartland Institute’s Center on Finance, Insurance and Real Estate, speaks with David Snyder, vice president and associate general counsel of the American Insurance Association, about the impact the deals could have on the U.S. insurance industry.
