Privacy Notice
Introduction
This Privacy Notice describes how www.outofthestormnews.com and its associated pages and tools (the "Site") handle information.
In this Notice, "we," "us," and "our" mean Out of the Storm News as the publication. The domain-registration contact is identified separately below. The Site does not currently offer user accounts or forms that ask for personal contact information.
Information we handle
Standard technical information. When you visit the Site, our hosting, content-delivery, security, and analytics providers may process information such as your Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, requested URL, timestamps, page interactions, and diagnostic or security events.
Tool inputs. Some Site tools accept non-sensitive inputs, such as a ZIP code, and may place that value in the page URL so the requested result can be displayed. ZIP values in URLs are redacted before analytics events are sent, but requested URLs may still appear in standard hosting, delivery, or security logs. Do not enter names, policy numbers, health details, account information, or other sensitive data into Site tools.
Information you send by email. If you contact us, we receive your email address and any name, message, attachments, or other information you choose to provide. Please do not email sensitive medical, financial, policy, account, or claims information.
Analytics, browser storage, and session recordings
The Site uses PostHog to measure pages visited, referring sources, feature use, page exits, and web-performance signals so we can understand and improve the Site. Analytics runs only on the production domain. It uses session-scoped browser storage rather than cookies and associates activity with a random identifier that lasts for the current browser-tab session. We do not set advertising cookies, build interest-based advertising profiles, or sell visitor data.
Session recordings. We use session recordings to diagnose navigation and usability problems. Recordings can include interactions such as clicks, scrolling, and changes to the visible page. Input values are masked; console logs and canvas content are not recorded; and ZIP values embedded in URLs are redacted before analytics events are sent. The Site has no user accounts and does not ask for contact information through forms.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
- return tool results requested by visitors;
- measure aggregate traffic and diagnose usability problems;
- diagnose errors and prevent fraud, abuse, or attacks;
- respond to questions, corrections, and privacy requests;
- comply with law and protect our rights and users; and
- evaluate Site performance without advertising profiles.
We do not sell personal information.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose information to service providers that support hosting, content delivery, security, analytics, email, and technical operations. They may process information only as needed to provide those services and subject to their contractual and legal obligations.
We may also disclose information when required or permitted by law; to respond to a valid court order, subpoena, warrant, or regulatory request; to investigate abuse or protect rights, safety, and security; or as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or other change in corporate control, subject to applicable law.
Retention, safeguards, and international processing
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Notice, including security, troubleshooting, legal, and recordkeeping needs. Retention periods vary according to the type of information and the system that processes it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No website, network, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Site infrastructure and service providers may process or store information in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Information processed outside your country may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of the place where it is processed.
Children and minors
The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Site. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to raise a concern about our handling practices. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions. To make a request, email support@advisorworld.com with the subject line "PRIVACY NOTICE ENQUIRY." We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Third-party links
The Site links to government agencies, insurers, regulators, and other external websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, not this one. We encourage you to review those notices before providing information to a third party.
Changes to this Notice
We may update this Notice as the Site or applicable requirements change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Applicable privacy rights depend on your jurisdiction and remain subject to legal exceptions.
